Summer's End 2008
Respect. Empower. Include.
During a recent training of volunteers for one of the Presidential candidates, we were taught that he is running his campaign by certain “organizing principles” and that we were expected to live by them, too. Those principles are:
Respect. Empower. Include.
Imagine the President of the United States of America being a model of these principles in thought and deed. Really. Take a moment to close your eyes and imagine a world in which our President truly respected, empowered and included all people when making decisions that affect our nation and the world.
At the volunteer training we were taught to not only respect those on our team, but those who are our opponents; to empower people by registering them to vote, regardless of party affiliation; and to include all perspectives so that together we can transform our nation through collaborative action. Imagine the leader of our great nation being a model for the world of living by these principles… and the Revolutionary Agreements.
Now is the time to share the Agreements with those seeking office. Send them the link to The American Team: Seven Steps to Genuine Teamwork in the White House and Beyond, posted at the bottom of the home page, www.RevolutionaryAgreements.com.
The time is now to respect, empower and include our diverse citizenry as together we become the change we seek in the world.
With gratitude,

"This Presidency has been given a mandate to change, to re-unite our citizenry in a common vision. We have the processes and technologies to involve millions of us in co-creating our future. The missing element is a fully functioning team at the helm, modeling the new possibility in its every action."

Roller Coaster Ride to Peace
Ed Boardman is President of the Board of Directors of the Unity Church of Creative Living in Jacksonville, Florida.
Reading Marian’s book turned a light on in my heart and made me realize that I had not been in alignment with my true desire, which is to be an agent of peace. Leaving behind over 30 years of the familiar corporate world and stepping out into a vast unknown, I discovered a feeling I call “joyful terror.” I wanted to sustain myself spiritually as well as financially – only this time by doing something I love. My strong spirituality plus the newly acquired tools I learned from Revolutionary Agreements bolstered my courage to recreate my destiny at 57. Soon, knees shaking, I closed the door to one world and found another door open into a world better suited to my newfound purpose.
One of the Agreements that spoke powerfully to me was Look within when I react. This Agreement helped me gain compassionate closure with my last two managers. It seemed to me that they second-guessed my every move by asking me again and again to explain everything I was doing. To me this looked like judgment and disapproval and I became defensive and resistant to the changes they required. By looking at my reaction and listening more deeply I could see a different picture emerge. These managers were under tremendous pressure from their superiors to perform and when they did not fully understand the information I provided they felt uncomfortable passing it on to their bosses. This does not mean that I agreed with everything, it did mean that I now had valuable insight into the why of their actions. When I chose to surrender to the process, I broke out of my own mental box and lightened up so significantly that the company offered me a very attractive retirement package.
Soon an opportunity emerged when Reverend Judy from my Unity Church collaborated with me to create a church study group in which I am the co- facilitator responsible for opening each meeting. For this I created a special guided meditation using all the Agreements and it was a huge success. (See excerpt and link to Ed’s meditation below.)
I am enjoying this new roller coaster ride and rejoice in the feeling of fulfillment that comes from doing what I love. By working with the Agreements in Truth, Acceptance and Gratitude I am becoming that agent of peace.

It is a momentous time in our history and we have a huge opportunity to express the power of who we are through our votes. It will take careful scrutiny and much looking within for this voter. Ed’s wonderful guided meditation is just the ticket to putting me back on track with who I am. I am delighted to share it with you. Read it aloud to a group or tape it and listen to your own voice guide you through Truth, Acceptance and Gratitude. Enjoy.

Excerpt:
Take a moment and get comfortable, either sitting or lying down.
I invite you to close your eyes and bring your attention to your breath.
As you inhale feel the breath filling you with life-giving energy.
As you exhale feel yourself releasing the stresses of the day.
Continue to breathe letting the light expand throughout your body, until you are the light.
You are living your truth.
Your mission is clear and you find joy in knowing your purpose.
Knowing your truth, speak it with compassion for it is evident that we are all connected to the One.
When faced with angry words spoken by others, look first within, knowing that the judgments passed by others provide insights into ourselves. Feel joy at the opportunity to release old fears and prejudices.
