Spring 2007

Spring Cleaning

It’s that beautiful, promising time of the year again! To make room for the new growth, we joyfully clear out the old debris. While working in my garden outside, it occurs to me that it’s also a good time to prepare my inner garden.

What debris is hanging around from last year that could stunt my potential growth? Are there old patterns or habits that no longer serve? In what direction am I going and is the ground prepared for my journey?  What must I tend to daily to nurture the seeds of the life I wish to live?

I scan the landscape of my being:  Where is the soil still hard?  What seeds will struggle to break through?  My mind lands on wishes that have not yet born fruit.  “One million readers will use Revolutionary Agreements to create inner peace, and thus create greater peace on earth.”  I notice my doubt growing and feel the ground of potential creation harden.

Activating my inner hoe to immediately break up this hardening thought, I free my mind to wonder instead, “What if I consciously tend this garden?”  As my thoughts shift to follow this new line of reasoning, I begin to lighten up. Spirit is now able to guide me.

I say aloud, “I am grateful for the capability to steward the Revolutionary Agreements in partnership with Spirit, so that millions will experience greater inner peace, and thus create greater peace on earth.”  As I sit quietly allowing the seed of this creative thought to take root, I no longer feel separate.  I am once again in partnership with the elements necessary for my garden to flourish:

(Wind):
Seeds of creation are lifted and carried by each conscious breath.
(Water):
Tears of gratitude moisten the fertile soil onto which the seeds alight.
(Fire):
The warm sunshine of my heart’s blazing passion brings this seed of an idea to life.
(Earth):
And Nature, in its perfect timing, nurtures and loves it into being.

Won’t you join me in preparing our inner gardens for the most magnificent springtime of our lives?  Imagine the exquisite possibilities!

With gratitude,

Marian

“I invite you to join me in living a positive life by building on those experiences that feed your soul, nurture your heart and stimulate your natural intelligence; and eliminating or shifting those experiences that drain you of your God-given energy and light.  Life is a grand experience.  Let’s enjoy the freedom to learn from it, change how we interact with it, and live it with an abundance of fullness and joy.”

After recently reading Revolutionary Agreements, I recalled a significant experience in which I encountered a blessing in disguise. I had a successful and fulfilling career in the public mental health sector and now wanted to move into private practice.  However, I couldn't imagine clearly how to make the transition…that is, until our clinic’s primary client was bought out by a large insurance company and we had only three months to tie up loose ends.

While other therapists in our clinic lamented the loss of our jobs, I immediately saw the opportunity this situation presented for moving into private practice.  When the new insurance company recruited therapists for their provider panel, we applied along with other local therapists.  They then issued an assurance that they would not disrupt psychotherapy services already in progress.   Since our clinic provided most of these services, this meant that each of us would start private practice with a caseload of clients!  How fortuitous!

You might say I was pushed off a cliff and discovered on the way down that I had wings! Other Revolutionary Agreements came into play: I was at last living my mission. I had my private practice but without the stress and struggle of building a client base from scratch. I got to keep doing what works and change what doesn’t.  And if I had not listened to my heart, I would not have taken the risk of approaching the new company and thus changing a potentially disparaging situation into a wonderful windfall.

It is good to look back and see examples of Revolutionary Agreements at play in my life, and look forward to more of them!  I share the Revolutionary Agreements with my friends with the hope they will experience these tools as positive reinforcements to living in their world with confidence, trusting that there is always a blessing awaiting its discovery in every challenging situation life sends our way.

Ah, the snow has finally gone, the sun shines warmly, and my hands itch to dig in the soil.  My tulips and other spring flowers are popping up as well as the dandelions and other persistent weeds. While dandelions and tulips are both colorful, I choose to weed out the dandelion because it will crowd out my grass and other flowers.  As I reflect on Marian’s message, I realize that negative thoughts I have allowed to take root also crowd out other possibilities, and so I begin the process of weeding… with my hands and with my mind.

Spring Into Action
By Linda Leary March 26, 2007

A month of spring, a time to renew,
a time to awaken from cold.
Time to air out the house of your soul;
to step up, step out, and be bold.

Watch for the first tiny buddings of spring
in the ground as well as your heart.
Watch for opportunities to sing and to dance.
Time to spring out--are you ready to start?

On the wheel of life spring is the East,
moving from the winter of North.
Get out the broom and rake and hoe.
Encourage your seeds to come forth.

Fertilize the thoughts that are working.
Let go of those that are not.
Plant beautiful flowers of joyous dreams
in your soul’s fertile garden plot.

Sweep away cobwebs that darken your heart.
Turn your face to the warmth of the sun.
Forgive and move on, go tend to your seeds,
play in the earth and have fun.

Put some “spring” in your step, go out for a walk.
Be in the pink and not blue.
Look in the mirror and smile at yourself;
reaffirm the magnificence of YOU.
